LUFASI’s forest conservation unit worked on the Ekki regeneration project in their own forest on march 2019. This involved marking desirable Ekki saplings to grow and clearing of unwanted shrubbery to minimise competition.
LUFASI in collaboration with LASPARK and Standard Chartered Bank planted 100 Queen’s Palm saplings on the Lekki Epe expressway setbacks in July 2019 in commemoration of the 2019 World Environment Day.
LUFASI was an awardee of the Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) in 2016. The sum of $3,300 dollars was given to LUFASI which as used to create colourful informative booklets on climate change and the creation of a 5minute animation video on the anthropogenic causes of climate change. This was used in our 45-minute climate change workshop held for school and university students that visit the park.
The NGO also received in kind donation of biodiversity survey equipment worth $225 from IDEAWILD. These equipment included camera traps, binoculars and field guides on different mammals and bird species. The project was to study the bird and mammal diversity of the nature park and with the equipment, we were able to regularise bird watching in the LUFASI programmes team as well as interested tourists.
LUFASI has received donations from banks such as N200,000 from First Bank Plc. to celebrate the 2017 LUFASI’s children’s day (May, 2017). The event consisted of activities such as the Parades, Cultural Dance and the poetry recitations. Other attractions were face painting, several beverage and snack stalls etc. The event had a total of 1200 tourists.
To commemorate the world biodiversity Day (May, 2018), Zenith Bank Plc gave LUFASI N500,000 on a tree plantation exercise as well as rendering workshops to the public on the importance of biodiversity conservation.
For Christmas 2018, LUFASI received a donation of N250,000 from Oando plc as part of a contribution to LUFASI’s Christmas fete.
Guaranty Trust Bank in 2019, donated gifts such as exercise books and sweets to inaugurate LUFASI’s 2019 Children’s day.
Nestle’s Milo Plc. also came in and served beverages to children for free.
RCola donated 8 cartons of cola drinks to the public that attended the 2019 World Earth Day (April 22nd 2019).
Regular adoption of a total of 11 bunnies and 16 ducklings (From May 2018 till present) which helped in the construction of a mini paddock for our stray horses and donkeys.
Success in LUFASI’s pilot organic compost production with the production of Cucumbers, Chilli peppers, Watermelon, Pumpkin leaves, sweet potatoes etc. (March to June 2018). The establishment of the organic farm has positively impacted the nearby community members, school children that come to buy the organic vegetables at a subsidized amount.
Rehabilitation and translocation of a Mona monkey and 5 mud turtles into the LUFASI Forest (From June 2018 till present).

Raised $3,300 to develop climate change educational materials. This includes a climate change booklet, tree planting jingle and a 6-minute animated motion picture explaining climate change, the causes, effects and solutions using the Nigerian context as a background.
Three versions of our 16-page climate change booklets (one for each school group – primary, junior secondary and senior secondary) were developed using community feedback, to ensure that Nigerian students have access to relevant materials to learn about the natural environment. In 7 months, 330 students and 49 teachers / adults from 5 schools, have participated in the climate change workshop.
